Saturday, December 7, we will be watching Pina, a tribute to the late German choreographer, Pina Bausch, as her dancers perform her most famous creations (2011, 103 minutes). Pina displays the choreographer's unflinching and imaginative interpretation of human struggle, the quest for meaning, and the presence of beauty in almost every act. Through the wordless power of dance, she communicates in a way words cannot. A clue to what she seeks to express may be found in her own words: "What are we longing for? Where does all this yearning come from?"
The movie will be showing at David Ruekberg's house, on Saturday, December 7. We will have a potluck dinner at 5:30 pm, and the movie will show at 6:30 pm. Afterwards, we'll discuss the movie. Note that the opening conference call for the miniretreat that weekend is at 9:00 pm ET that evening. Anyone taking part in the mini-retreat may call into the conference call from David's house after the movie & discussion if they want.
